Prekrasne Siberian Cats:

Beauty is more than skin deep

Mission

One of our most important missions in developing our breeding program was to start with the best.  Our foundation cats all come from some of the most impressive lines available.  Collectively they have an incredible number of World Champions.  Their ancestors include such impressive cats as Indiana and Aldan Abakan, Gloria de Glemur, Max, Waltz, Roman, Charoit, etc.

Why is this important?  The goal of any reputable breeder should be the improvement and development of the breed.  By bringing in males and females of the highest quality from incredible lines is the best way to start.  As part of this, we look to improve not only the phenotype or look of the breed, but also the genotype and health of the breed.  Because the Siberian is still in the early stages of selective breeding it is of utmost importance for me, as a breeder, to be most concerned with establishing a good type, size, temperment and health.

It is this mission that led us to our motto, "Beauty is more than skin deep."  While these are gorgeous cats on the outside, we also want them to be healthy and active with loving, confident personalities.  Then and only then will they meet the definition of Prekrasne - breathtaking and stunningly beautiful!

Philosophy

What is my breeding philosophy regarding Siberians?  My philosophy is that Siberians, as a true natural breed, should be maintained as such.  This means breeding to maintain their medium-large, athletic build and the breed’s inherent overall health.   I believe that as a breeder this means I only bring into my breeding program those Siberians who are exemplary of the Siberian’s look, health and endearing personality.

Next, I do not breed my cats just to multiply and I do not seek to regularly produce pet kittens.  My goal is to breed when necessary for my lines and for showing.  We want to produce kittens that are the highest possible quality.  Now, life being what it is, not all kittens can be show or breeder quality kittens.  It would be nice if it worked out that way, but no one can bat a thousand.  We'd like to believe that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will always have gorgeous children too, but they may end up with one who is not as beautiful as their parents (although probably still remarkably good looking).  You just cannot tell.   Since life works this way we will have pet kittens available.  This does not mean they aren't wonderful Siberians, it means they are like the vast majority of us - not perfect.

Because my goal is not to breed strictly for producing pet kittens, I do not have kittens available at all times. In addition, my females are bred only once or twice per year to ensure they have regained their physical health and stamina.

We determine our need to breed based on the welfare of the cats, our needs for showing/breeding and our ability to find loving homes for all of our kittens.  We keep a wait list for this reason since it helps us guide our breeding plans.  In your search for the kitten that is perfect for you, keep in mind that not all breeders are the same.  Most ethical and reputable breeders have a waiting list for their kittens so they can be certain that their kittens all go to loving homes.  We also follow this practice.  While it may not always be convenient to wait, quite often the best is worth the wait.

Ilario and Roman

"Thank you Sue, for the second perfect match for our family! I think Illy will be so much happier now when we are not in the house with him. He was lonely before when we weren't with him.  I can't imagine a more perfect buddy for Illy and a more sweet and loving kitty for our family."

Alek and Wolfie

"The boys are doing really, really great. Wolfie has grown into a confident guy with his own charming personality. He is structurally huge. He weighs over a pound more than Alek. They are such great buds and it's so sweet seeing them together. Alek still needs his alone time with Fred and time with me so that is sweet... Wolfie just keeps growing. I will get a saddle for him soon and ride him around the house. His head is filling out and he's becoming more proportionate... I didn't think I would go for a darker cat but I must admit he truly has a gorgeous coat. His pattern and color combination is striking... Your cats are making people all over the world happy, happy."

Bogie

Bogie is quite a fellow. When we went to the airport to pick him up, we heard him coming before we saw Kelly with our special delivery! When i first laid eyes on him I loved his Siberian look and I was so happy to have discovered the Siberian....Nowadays, he is a pretty quiet guy mostly telling me long stories during his bath....Bogie enjoyed "show business" for a while and the judges enjoyed admiring his handsomeness but after attaining his CFA Grand title, he decided it was time to retire and admire his rosettes on the mantle.  Yep, he is quiet a fellow!

Jeter

Sue, I just wanted to get in touch to tell you how much we  love having Jeter in our family.  He's such a beautiful, affectionate, playful fellow.  My 10 year old has a real touch with him and they are head over heels in love...We couldn't be happier with him and wanted to thank you so much for this wonderful service you provide to the cat-loving world.
