Welcome to the world of Prekrasne Siberian cats. Thank you for considering us for your first (or your next) Siberian kitten. While you have no doubt been looking at many web sites and hopefully educating yourself about the Siberian breed, there are also things you should know about Prekrasne, about breeders, and about Siberians.
If you'd rather just skip to the the nuts and bolts of getting your kitten click here.
Membership
As a dedicated breeder/exhibitor, I am a member of TICA and also have my cattery registered with CFA (CFA does not offer membership). I am also a member of the Russian FIFe club Supercats. Membership in feline organizations is a big part of any breeder’s responsibility because it shows a commitment to the cat fancy, dedication to the breed and continuous development as a breeder/exhibitor.
I belong to local clubs for both CFA and TICA:
· Phoenix Feline Fanciers (CFA)
· Desperado Cat Fanciers (TICA)
· Coatimondi Cat Club (TICA)
I belong to a national breed club:
· TAIGA Siberian breed club
· I am on the Siberian breed council for CFA
Exhibitor
I am an active exhibitor of my Siberians. While I may not be able to attend as many shows as some exhibitors because I also work, I do show regularly in TICA and CFA. This shows an awareness of the breed’s standard. The standard is the written description of the breed. If you are looking to buy a show cat – start by looking at breeders who show or those who have bred show winning cats. If you never see a breeders cattery name on any of the show reports (easily accessible on the TICA website), you may want to look elsewhere. You can check out my page of cats that are currently in breeding or show homes to see how Prekrasne cats are doing outside of my own cattery.
Traditional Siberians
I am a breeder of traditional colored/patterned Siberians. Traditional is a common term to refer to non-colorpointed cats. This means my cats are largely brown tabbies, blue tabbies, silvers, etc. All of my breeding cats are free of the colorpoint gene. Traditional breeders also tend to work toward the more native look of the Russian cats. While some may find this in conflict with breeding to US standards, I find there is sufficient grey area to do both. My goal is to breed a Siberian that would be recognizable as such to someone who had a Siberian in Russia.
My personal vision of a Siberian can be found in the intensely intelligent look you will see in their eyes.

Kitten Match
As a breeder I am happy to answer questions about our cats, but I will also have questions for you as well. My goal is to find the best permanent, loving home possible. This means I’ll be asking you about yourself, your family, other pets, and so forth. I start this process through my Kitten Match form. I will also typically follow up with any additional questions. This form also helps me determine what the best match is for you. Not all households are the same and not all kittens are either. We want a good match!
Joining the Waiting List
You are able to join our waiting list after completing the Kitten Match form and subject to approval. There is a $25 NON-REFUNDABLE waiting list fee that is applied to the cost of your kitten.
While waiting for your kitten to be born may seem like forever, this gives me the chance to get to know you and visa versa. The waiting list also allows responsible breeders to more effectively plan breeding rather than just breeding for the sake of breeding. We typical pick matches based on genetic promise, diversity, and potential for quality in type and temperament.
If you’d like, you may join the Prekrasne Yahoo Group. This is a small group of helpful folks who have kittens from Prekrasne. In some cases they have severalJ. You can also join me on Facebook. Just look for Prekrasne Siberians.
The Wait is On!
Once the kittens are born, I normally wait 3-4 weeks before making any of them available. This allows time to determine quality, color, and overall development. Once this happens, I will make our kittens available to our waiting list. Keep in mind that I have first pick of any litter for the Prekrasne breeding program. Those kittens that are determined to be of show quality may be considered for show homes as well – if we have requests.
In the meantime, check out our page with advice on introducing your new kitten and the type of supplies you will need from litter to toys.

Reserving Your Kitten
Now that you have picked out your kitten, you can reserve him or her (or them).
· Pet kittens are $900
o There is a discount of $150 when purchasing a 2nd (or 3rd Prekrasne kitten)
o Show quality kittens are $950 - $1100.
o Breeding kittens are placed on a very limited, case by case basis.
We require a deposit of $300** in order to reserve your kitten.
You will also need to sign and send back our Pet Contract agreement.
Kittens are not reserved until the deposit is received.
**While this is non refundable, if we at Prekrasne determine at any point that this is not a good match, we will refund the $300 + the waiting list fee if applicable. We do reserve the right to decline at any time if we feel it is not the right match.
The balance for your kitten(s) is due no less than 2 weeks prior to delivery. If you are paying by check, allow an extra 2 weeks additional to allow time for the check to clear.
Delivery – the big day
We have a few options for this.
Local:
If you are local to the Phoenix area, I will deliver your kitten in person. This allows me the chance to answer your questions as well.
Tri State area:
If you live in Arizona, southern California, or even Albuquerque I will drive part way to meet you with your new baby.
· If you live in the San Diego area – I can meet you in Yuma
· If you live in the Los Angeles area – I can meet you in Blythe
· If you live in Albuquerque or Las Vegas – I can meet you in Flagstaff
· If I am at a cat show I can bring your kitten along and pick up can be done there – I am frequently at shows in Arcadia, CA which is outside Los Angeles. Other locations will depend on the show schedule.
Shipping
Courier
We do have the option to use a courier. She can deliver to most major U.S. airports and some in Canada. Because she travels standby this option does require more flexibility but it is our preferred method due to this being far less stressful on your kitten, me, and you.
Cost ranges from $175 - $300. Closer locations like Albuquerque, Denver, and L.A. are $175, other western states are $200, midwest is $250, and east coat is $300. Canadian locations such as Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal are $350.
Cargo
If we need to ship in cargo, we use Continental. Continental is the only option for cargo in the summer for Phoenix as most airlines have a moratorium on transporting animals in cargo to our city from late May to late September. We use them anyway because they have the best track record with animals.
We charge a flat fee of $325 for shipping with Continental in the U.S. This covers the actual shipping, airline required documentation, and a carrier suitable for shipping your kitten. Keep in mind in the summer months we are limited on options and flights must depart our airport very early due to our extreme heat. Also remember, this price is for shipping a kitten. If you are getting one of our retired adults, the cost will be closer to $400 due to the larger size of adults. The airlines charge more and they need a larger kennel. Again, our courier is a great option for our retired adults too!
Stay in Touch
I have been where you are! I know the excitement of getting a new cat and also how hard it is when you find yourself working with someone who never answers emails, never sends or posts pictures, and tells you nothing about your new kitty. That is why I made commitment years ago, back when I started, that I would not forget about YOU after you made your deposit and certainly not after you brought home your kitty home. Not everyone needs or wants to be in regular contact, but if you have questions let me know! Even if I don’t have an answer right away, I’ll try my best to find out.
I also hope you will send the occasional picture to let us see how your little guy or girl is growing up.
